Treating Trauma, Anxiety, and Depression in Midtown East, Manhattan & Nassau County, Long IslandTreating Trauma, Anxiety, and Depression

Many of my clients are thoughtful, high-functioning adults who:
I approach therapy through a trauma-informed lens. That means we move at a pace that respects your nervous system. And we understand that symptoms are protective, not pathological.
I integrate Internal Family Systems (IFS) as the foundation of our work. I am a Certified Level 3 IFS Therapist. I also draw on EMDR and AEDP, weaving in these trauma-informed modalities to help you build a compassionate relationship with your inner world.
Instead of fighting your anxiety, shutting down your anger, or criticizing your neediness, we get curious about the parts of you carrying those roles.
When your internal system begins to feel safer, your external relationships start to shift too.
In session, I gently guide you inward to connect with the parts of you that are carrying pain, fear, or shame. This isn't traditional talk therapy. It's an experiential process where you develop a direct, compassionate relationship with your inner world.
Together, we'll:
I'll be right there with you throughout, attuned and steady, helping your system feel safe enough to do this deep healing work.
IFS believes we all have “parts,” sub-personalities within us that each play a role in helping us deal with life's challenges. Sometimes, these parts are wounded because of pain they've experienced and need healing. IFS therapy also believes we each have an intrinsic “self,” a wise, healing energy that lives deep within us. By connecting to this energy, we are able to heal our own wounded parts and free them from their restrictive roles.
Eye Movement Desensitization & Reprocessing Therapy involves moving your eyes in a specific way while you process traumatic memories. This eye movement changes the way our brains interpret and process these memories, and we are able to form new insights about what we have been through. EMDR's goal is to help you heal from trauma or other distressing life experiences.
Accelerated Experiential Dynamic Psychotherapy is an approach that places emphasis and importance on the relationship between the client and therapist. By building connection and safety within that relationship, the client is able to explore and go beyond their defenses to their deepest emotions, leading to greater feelings of compassion, joy, and calm. This approach incorporates somatically experiencing our emotions: tuning into our body and healing within the nervous system.
Absolutely, and many people like it better than in-person therapy. Online therapy saves you the hassle of commuting to therapy, and often allows you to have more control of your environment. All the treatment modalities described above can be used through online therapy.
Seeing a therapist online is the next best thing to seeing one in person. Research suggests online mental health counseling is as effective as in-office therapy.
Your privacy is of the utmost importance. To ensure our sessions are completely private and your digital information is secure, I use a web conferencing program that complies with the Health Insurance Portability and Accountability Act (HIPAA) as well as a variety of international standards. You'll also want to do everything possible to make sure you are in a private space where it is unlikely you will be heard or interrupted throughout the sessions. You may also want to turn off any notifications from your computer or smartphone during sessions.
